Lace up your running shoes and prepare for an unforgettable night of fun, fitness, and margaritas, as Maudie’s Moonlight Margarita 5K Fun Run turns 21!
For over two decades, runners, joggers, walkers, and margarita lovers have converged in downtown Austin for a shotgun start and 5K course that travels along the streets bordering Lady Bird Lake and the Butler Trail before ending back at the park for the highly anticipated Tex-Mex party and margarita celebration.
This year’s run will be Wednesday, June 5, 2024 – aligning with Global Running Day, but don’t let that intimidate you. This worldwide celebration encourages people of all ages and abilities to get moving. So, join us, move a little, and then celebrate!

Do you want to register your margarita buddy and run as a team? Easy. Register as a Team Captain and set your team to public or private so your friends can join you. If you have registered and want to enter a team, log into your Event Dog account and select a team. It’s as easy as choosing salt on the rim. See the FAQ’s below for more information on managing a team.

All registration fees from the run go directly to The Trail Conservancy, providing critical funds needed to achieve our mission to protect, enhance, and connect the Ann & Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail for all!

7:45PM – National Anthem & Lift Every Voice and Sing performed by Melat
8:00PM – Shotgun Start for the Maudie’s Moonlight Margarita 5K
8:00PM – 10:00PM – Finish Line Celebration with music by DJ Chorizo Funk performing from the AIMI Passion Flower Art Car
The 5K run leaves Walter Seaholm Drive and travels alongside Lady Bird Lake and the Butler Trail on Cesar Chavez before looping around Austin High and returning back to Sand Beach Park.
We highly encourage using the Butler Trail or ride-share to get to the race. Road closures will go into effect beginning at 6:00PM, so traffic will be heavier than usual in the area surrounding the event.
BUTLER TRAIL. We highly recommend parking off-site and using the Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail to get to the race site. Plus, it counts as your pre-run warm up! Plan your trip with our Trail Maps.

PAID PARKING. There are several paid public parking options nearby:
State Garage N – 300 San Antonio Street, available after 5:00PM
City Hall Parking Garage – 301 W. 2nd Street, available after 5:00PM
Seaholm Garage – available after 5:00PM, available for ADA parking
On-Street parking along 3rd Street

I registered for the run but now cannot make it. Can I request a refund or transfer my registration?
Setting Up a Team:
The Team Captain must register on the registration website using the Team Captain option.
Adding/Removing Team Members:
Even though you created the team and are the Team Captain, you must join the team once you complete your race registration form.

Confirm or Remove Team Members:
You will receive an email two weeks before from the run with dates, times, and the location for packet pick-up. The email will come from the same system that you registered through to the same email you used to register. There is no race-day packet pick-up scheduled at this time, and packets will not be mailed.
What is in your race packet:
We order shirts based on the size you request while registering, but will have a few extra in each size. Shirts will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. So to guarantee you get the size you want, please plan to pick up your packet early.
